Based in Akron, Ohio, his nationally presented work—rooted in his signature Urban Midwest Storytelling—explores memory, identity, safety, belonging, and the emotional complexity of Black life in post-industrial America.
His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Akron Beacon Journal, and has reached audiences across the country through live performance and public television. A 2024 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award recipient and Headlands Center for the Arts Fellow, Moore-Dunson is also an Associate Artist of the Atlantic Center for the Arts and a 2019 Jacob’s Pillow Choreography Fellow. He is the Co-Founder of MooreDunson Co., a family-led creative strategy studio, and the creator of The Remember Balloons, the inCOPnegro trilogy, Black by Nature, FLOAT, and other works that place movement at the center of human storytelling.
